A Message from the Board of Trustees

Dear Antilles Families, Friends and Supporters:

Recently, our Head of School made the difficult decision that Antilles School will no longer serve as the host location for the practices and training of the Arawak Warrior Football Program, beginning with the upcoming school year.

Dr. Hughes’ decision was made after thoughtful and careful evaluation of the football program over a two-year period, with concerns about player safety and the financial impact to Antilles being the drivers of the decision.

As a Board, we entrust our Head of School to make day-to-day operational decisions that support the mission of the School, protect the safety of our students, and ensure the School’s long-term health and stability. When presented with these serious safety and financial concerns, the Board fully supported, and continues to support, the decision of our Head of School.

We realize that the decision will come as a disappointment to some. It is our hope that the Arawak Warrior Football organization will be able to secure a new host location so that students and parents who wish to continue their involvement with the program may do so.

Antilles stands by its commitment to the St. Thomas-St. John community and is honored and rewarded by the fact that the School’s facilities play such a vital role in bringing our community together.

Sincerely,

The Antilles School Board of Trustees
